Final Reflection

This Semester..

While looking back on this past semester, I realized how much I have learned from this class. I overall loved Mat's sense of humor and the fact that this class was a class that allowed me to sit down and take a deep breath. Although we had a lot of activities I never found myself too overwhelmed with deadlines and big projects which I enjoyed a lot.

After reviewing myself, I believe that I am a very "business-minded" individual. For example, I make itineraries every day so I know what my day is going to look like and I am very used to hard deadline assignments, big projects, and math assignments. For me, this class was challenging in the sense that it was pretty "go with the flow". This took some getting used to for me. but, I believe it allowed me to take a deep breath and have a class that I wasn't always worried about, which I appreciate.

Mat made the class captivating by having real-world topics which we analyzed through "Mentor Texts" and the class discussions I always found interesting. For example, learning about how deaf people go to the movies or about Beyonce's life story.

Before this class, I had never thought about applying something to another in the form of a "mentor text". I had never been prompted to write a story about a scar or share a memory from home. This is really what made this class different and interesting to me.

For my final project, I was able to pursue my interest in working out, specifically through the gym I go to, and learn more about it. I was able to interview fellow gym members and even one of the instructors at my gym while learning more about how working out can improve your mental health. The creative aspect of this class allowed my mind to wander and explore different areas it never has before is something I will miss!
